SAME DAY CROWNS

CEREC Crowns

At Everyone Loves a Gentle Dentist we are excited to talk about the CEREC machine.  CEREC is an acronym for Chair Side Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramics. Meaning, patients can now receive their crowns in only one appointment. That is just one of the many benefits, because with the CEREC, patients will no longer have to take uncomfortable silicone impressions, be numb at multiple appointments, or worry about a temporary crown. The CEREC uses an intraoral camera to scan the prepared tooth into a computer system. After the tooth is scanned, the crown is then designed on the computer. Once the designing process is complete, the crown is ready to be milled out, on the milling machine. The milling machine will make the crown out of a solid ceramic block in 6-8 minutes. After the crown has been milled, we check to make sure the crown is a perfect fit. We will then glaze the crown to match your individual teeth. The crown is then ready to be cemented. We check your bite, and if everything is perfect you will be set to go. After receiving a CEREC crown you may eat or drink, no need to wait for the glue to set up. We have been very pleased with our CEREC crowns, and you will be too!

      BENEFITS OF CEREC CROWNS

  • No uncomfortable impressions-CEREC has an intraoral camera, which takes 18 pictures per second, and scans the prepared tooth creating a virtual impression.
  •   No temporaries-Since the crowns are milled out in the office you will only need one appointment, and you will leave with                                                                                     your permanent crown that day.
  • Future diagnosis-unlike porcelain fused to metal crowns, a ceramic crown can be seen through on x-ray.  Meaning; if there is decay under a ceramic crown, we can see it, whereas a traditional porcelain crown we cannot.
